Cycles:
African Life Through Art

Indianapolis Museum of Art

2004

In this online exhibition visitors come to understand the cycle of human life as expressed in African art. With emphasis on context and meaning, the objects featured in this site lead to new and deeper understandings of the varied cultures and of the art itself. The site's unique cyclical interface reinforces the underlying themes of birth, maturation, transition, and rebirth. Although aimed at seventh-grade students, the experience is just as enjoyable for general audiences as well.
